Living on Land & Water is the exhibition of the Fenland Lives & Land project that focuses on some of the stories of people that have lived in or visited the fens throughout history. A crucial part of this exhibition is the embroidered map created by Chatteris Craft & Lace Group specifically for the project.
The Living on Land & Water exhibition presents the selected stories via fun, informative films made by community groups from across the region. In order to select a film, visitors must first approach the fen lighter boat upon which the map sits, explore the scene and choose from the different characters represented upon it.
The textile work of the map, which was a real team effort, is of outstanding quality, beauty and detail, and certainly one of the highlights of the project. In order to see the map in this exhibition, please look out for Living on Land & Water at a museum near you.
