The Feast of Fenland Project

The first touring exhibition organised by the the Greater Fens Museum Partnership was the 'The Feast of Fenland Exhibition', which toured the Fens during 2007 and 2008.

The theme of food was chosen because food production has always played such a large part of the life in the Fens, which is one of the most productive  farming areas in Europe.  It was also a subject that would engage with local people - something seen as essential by the partners.  The topic of food provided a chance to showcase what makes the area so distinctive and increases awareness of the traditional and modern skills that are on show in the rich heritage and modern life in the Fens.  Over 14,000 people participated in the project.
